In case there are any other adults reading this...you may not want to look at your investment portfolio today, the bottom is falling out. Trading has been halted on the NYSE. If you are young, I might recommend starting to buy some stocks soon, while they are down, and then sit on them for about 40 years or so.

Also, apparently everyone else figured out that China is tanking and panicked.

Official word is that it is a technical glitch, but the timing of it seems a little suspicious....where’s my tinfoil hat?

Currently looks like a computer problem. However, if you look at China...they are in full on panic mode. The government stopped trading of +26% of the top company stocks to stop a pure free for all. The Shanghai index is down 30% over the past month.

China has been overdue for a long while. It’ll pull the rest of the world down with it, just due to the size of the market.

Honestly I’m a little more nervous about Italy and Spain going down like Greece. Those will effect us quite a bit.

The Chinese market isn’t really a market, just a gov’t tool.

But long term, I think we are about to hit a rough couple quarters again. China, 2nd tier Euros, the unknowns of the next US President all point to frowny faces.

Stocks are down 1% today. That’s ONE PERCENT, hoss. Not the bottom falling out. The NYSE outage is obviously concerning though.

NYSE stocks are still trading on other markets though, so it’s not a actual halt on trading. Just so dumbass probably pulled the wrong fiber cable.

Trading halted on NYSE due to “technical reasons”, not big price drops. At least that’s what I heard. I don’t have any stocks off more than 5% today, which is pretty common for day to day fluctuations, 3%-5%. They were all up at the end of yesterday, today they just went back where they were. Don’t be a day trader, invest in long term companies. All the stocks I own are in my Roth IRA, and I don’t own that much. But you’ll never cash out if you don’t invest. I have the typical 401K through work, etc. and just let it be. It will be fine, the money managers who run it know what they are doing.

Anyone with heavy investments in China better be able to withstand a few large dips.

Not the NYSE, not yet anyway, but China was something like -26% when the government halted all trading... I’d say that’s the bottom falling out....or a major correction. whichever term you prefer.

You gotta diversify! I’m down 1.8% for the day, compared to up 2% yesterday, so about a wash since the start of the week.

Now is the time to scoop up oil & gas stocks while they are deflated. I held on to the ones that I have too long, and a lot are down ~50% since this time last year. No sense selling now while they are at the bottom.

It’s a good time to get into TSLA and AAPL as well.

Tesla’s only really worth its market cap if they end up being as big as Ford, which I don’t see happening. There’s alot of hype around it, which is something that I tend to stay away from.

Drake (a rap artist) had this song called “started from the bottom now we here”

It was ridiculed because the rapper Drake starred as a child in a show called “Degrassi” which was popular in the USA and Canada. He made as much as a 15 year old as I do today more or less. So this song about how he “started from the bottom” is hilarious because sure he was making $40K....but making that when he was 15 years old. Not exactly starting from the bottom.
